Frequently Asked Questions
~Rebind is an e-reading experience like no other. Rebind makes it possible to read a great book with the most remarkable person you could imagine reading with. Rebind editions of classic texts are infused at pivotal moments with the original commentary of Rebinders, who serve as passionate experts, guides, and companions as you read. To begin, you have the opportunity to watch short films that orient and prepare you for the reading journey ahead; then, more radically, you’ll experience interactive book-club-style conversations that bring the Rebinders’ commentary to life.
Think of Rebind as a mindfulness app for deep reading, guided by the world’s most interesting people. Rebind challenges you to engage with a book in a whole new way.
Rebinders help you find or recapture the joy of reading. These commentators are among the most talented and influential voices in the world. Rebinders are authors, actors, educators, and philosophers—united by a passion for books and a commitment to sharing their favorites with you.
Prepare to read each section by viewing original films in which the Rebinder shares personal anecdotes, historical context, and reflections. Then, take time to read, highlight and react to passages that you love or that confuse you. At the end of each section, you’ll enter into an AI-driven discussion with the Rebinder’s commentary that they’ve provided for that specific section. Think of it as a space to bounce your ideas off those of the Rebinder, to take in the Rebinder’s insights while deepening your own, and to write about how the book connects or departs from your personal beliefs and experiences.
It all starts with real life conversations. In an extensive interviewing process, we ask Rebinders everything you could possibly imagine about a book and why they love it—from helpful historical context to what they imagine a character to be thinking.
Until now, this kind of informal discussion has been impossible to share with general readers. But with AI we can find the most relevant parts of our interview to meet you where you are and to use generative AI to connect your thoughts to the Rebinder’s and vice versa. Think of it as bouncing ideas off one another.
We ask our Rebinders a lot of questions but nowhere near as many as our users ask them. For this reason, we simply cannot field all of your questions with original content, but we do still want to try to get you the answers you want!
For transparency, you’ll be able to see an “x-ray” of each AI response to easily see what the actual transcript says and how it varies from the chat. Sometimes you’ll need us to clarify terms, for example, “What do you mean by ‘getting up to japes’?” Or, you’ll have a factual question like, “When was Friedrich Nietzsche’s sister born?”. We’ll rely on our discussion engine to field those questions, and we’ll show you when we’re on and off-script.
