General
~A groundbreaking digital Bible that blends the American Standard Version (ASV) with the full New International Commentary (NICOT/NICNT)—making 15,000+ pages of expert insight accessible in one app.
The ASV provides a precise, literal translation; the NICOT/NICNT delivers verse-by-verse scholarly commentary. Together they create a resource that is both authoritative and deeply insightful.
Instead of static notes, Rebind offers dynamic conversation—2,800 adaptive articles, responsive chat, and real-time expert insights woven into your reading.
Rebind uses the American Standard Version (ASV), valued for its accuracy and clarity. Additional translations are planned in future updates.
No. Rebind adapts to your level of study—from beginners to advanced readers—through layered commentary and flexible answers.
Rebind is a publishing company, not a ministry. Our team is made up of teachers who have devoted their lives to studying and teaching literature, philosophy, and the history of Christianity, the Bible, and its philosophical origins. Some members of our team are practicing Christians, but not all. Our mission is to bring classic works—like the Bible and other enduring texts of wisdom—into dialogue with expert commentary, using technology to make these works more accessible to both seasoned students of the Bible and a new generation of readers.
Yes. While the Rebind Study Bible currently features the ASV and the NICOT/NICNT commentary, we are committed to an ecumenical approach that honors diverse readings of the Bible and other spiritual texts. In the future, additional translations and commentaries will be made available to serve the widest possible readership.

Artificial Intelligence & Rebind
~Rebind uses AI technology to make the Bible and expert commentary seamless and conversational. We employ retrieval-based AI to select the most relevant passages from the NICOT/NICNT commentary and present them alongside Scripture in clear, context-driven ways. This ensures that what you see and hear is always sourced, transparent, and faithful to the original expert commentary.
No. Rebind does not alter the biblical text. The Bible remains the authoritative American Standard Version (ASV) in its entirety. The AI only helps deliver relevant commentary and supporting material, ensuring clarity and ease of access. Our use of AI never replaces or rewrites Scripture but helps you connect with experts who can deepen your reading.
It would be sacrilegious if AI were to transform or rewrite the Bible. Rebind does not do that. Instead, we use vector searches and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to pair Bible passages with the expert commentary that best addresses your question or interest. The AI functions as a guide to Biblical commentary, never as the Scripture itself.
No. We distinguish carefully:
- The Primary Text: The ASV Bible.
- The Rebinder: Commentary from the NICOT/NICNT scholars.
- RAIA: The Rebind AI assistant who moderates, guides, and helps you navigate.
Each role is clearly marked so you always know whether you’re reading Scripture, expert commentary, or AI moderation.
- Images: We use AI to colorize the classic black-and-white Gustave Doré illustrations, giving them new vibrancy while respecting the original artistry.
- Voices: AI voice technology is used for consistency in audio. Many of the NICOT/NICNT commentators are no longer living, and AI-generated voices allow us to bring their scholarship into the audio experience in a seamless way.
The Rebind Library & Study Bible
~Rebind was founded on the belief that classic works—including the Bible, but also spiritual and philosophical texts from traditions like Buddhism, Taoism, and ancient and modern philosophy—remain vital but often need context and elaboration to be accessible for modern readers. Rebind uses expert commentary, paired with AI, to open up these works for a new generation.
The Rebind Study Bible demonstrates what Rebind can do at its very best: combine Scripture with authoritative commentary in a format that is dynamic, transparent, educational and engaging.
Yes. Users who purchase the desktop and web-optimized Rebind Library will also receive access to the Rebind Study Bible.
Yes. Rebind is actively working on full integration between the iOS Rebind Study Bible app and the desktop/web application, so that your notes, reflections, and progress travel seamlessly with you.
Recasts
~Recasts are podcast-style audio experiences. The Bible is read aloud and interwoven with expert commentary from the NICOT/NICNT.
- RAIA: Rebind AI Assistant—a helpful resource for general interest questions and the moderator of the Recast for Rebind.
- Narrator: The voice used to narrate the ASV Bible.
- Rebinder: The commentator’s voice, male or female, from the NICOT/NICNT
Each Recast seamlessly blends these three voices—Scripture narration, AI moderation, and expert commentary—into a single listening experience.
Chat Feature
~Located via the star icon in the bottom right, the chat lets you ask questions and engage directly with RAIA and the NICOT commentary.
You can choose from preset prompts or type your own questions. RAIA handles general queries (dates, places, cultural background). Our expert commentary is woven in when helpful, ensuring responses are both conversational and maximally informative.
Reflect Module
~Accessed via the four-square button in the bottom right, the Reflect module provides curated questions about the passage you’re reading. You can respond in writing, and your responses are saved for review.
The Notebook stores all your reflections, chat interactions, and saved questions and passages as you work through the Bible. You can copy, export, and share these notes with friends and family. Social features are being developed to allow sharing within the app in future updates.
Notebook, Highlights & Plans
~Yes. You can highlight words or verses within the Study Bible and immediately ask RAIA and the expert commentator questions about the highlighted passage.
Plans are curated sets of chapters, books, and commentary designed to guide you through cohesive themes or narratives across Scripture. We currently offer a plan that takes the reader through the entire Bible in a year. As the app progresses, we will offer Lectionary and Daily Mass readings plans; Sequential and Chronological reading plans; Canonical reading plans; Topical/Thematic Study and Character Study plans; Scared Reading and Imaginative Prayer plans; and many more. Progress is tracked so you can see your journey through each plan.
Push notifications gently encourage you to return to your active plans, helping you stay consistent and engaged with your study commitments.
Visual Features
~The app features the celebrated black-and-white Bible etchings of Gustave Doré (1832–1883)—a French artist renowned for his dramatic biblical illustrations. These classic images have been digitally colorized and embedded throughout the app to enrich the reading experience.
Language Support
~Yes. You can ask questions in a variety of languages and receive answers in your native tongue.
Currently the text is in the American Standard Version (ASV). In the coming years, additional translations and commentaries will be added in multiple languages.
About the NICOT/NICNT Commentary
~The NICOT (Old Testament) and NICNT (New Testament) are respected, verse-by-verse commentary series published by William B. Eerdmans. They are valued for their balance of rigorous scholarship and accessibility to pastors, professors, and serious Bible students.
The full series comprises approximately 50+ volumes. In total, these works amass over 15,000 pages of commentary.
The Old Testament series (NICOT) is edited by Robert L. Hubbard Jr. and Bill T. Arnold; it’s a multi-decade project covering most books of the Hebrew Bible. The New Testament counterpart (NICNT) is edited by Joel B. Green and continues the tradition of scholarly, evangelical commentary. Many volumes date back to the mid-20th century, with regular updates to maintain scholarly relevance.
The series is widely regarded as among the best Biblical commentaries available. It offers a clear, faithful exposition of Scripture with thoughtful scholarship that bridges ancient context and today’s readers. Christianity Today and respected Biblical scholars frequently cite NICOT/NICNT volumes among their top recommendations. A full print set can run upwards of $2,000–$2,600.
